Best Education Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the New England Region In 2018-2019, 88,927 education students received their bachelor's degree, making the major the #10 most popular in the country. Out of all those awarded degrees, 3,847 went to undergraduates in the New England region of the United States.

This year's Best Education Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the New England Region ranking looked at 29 colleges that offer a bachelor's in education. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent education programs, but they also offer a lot of support to non-traditional students.

University of Maine at Farmington tops the 2021 list of our schools in the New England Region that are best for non-traditional education students. Located in the remote town of Farmington, UMaine Farmington is a public college with a small student population. As a testament to the quality of education offered at UMaine Farmington, the school also landed the #2 rank in our Best Colleges for Education in the New England Region ranking.

The school has a low student loan default rate of 4.7%. 87 students at UMaine Farmington are exclusively online. About 476 of the students at UMaine Farmington are attending part time. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

Bridgewater, MA

Bridgewater State University earned the #2 spot in our 2021 rankings. Bridgewater State is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Bridgewater. Bridgewater State not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #3 on our Best Colleges for Education in the New England Region list.

Our rankings recognize Boston University as the #3 school in this year's rankings. Located in the city of Boston, Boston U is a private not-for-profit college with a very large student population. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, Boston U has also earned the #1 rank in our Best Colleges for Education in the New England Region ranking.

About 1.7% of Boston U students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. 2,534 of Boston U students are exclusively distance learners. 6,370 students are part time.

Southern Connecticut State University landed the #4 spot in our 2021 best education schools for non-traditional students. SCSU is a medium-sized public school located in the midsize city of New Haven. SCSU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #8 on our Best Colleges for Education in the New England Region list.

The student loan default rate at SCSU is lower than is typical, just 6.7% of students default in three years. There are approximately 1,334 students at SCSU that take at least one class online. 2,434 of SCSU students are attending part time. As a testament to the quality of education offered at UMaine, the school also landed the #7 rank in our Best Colleges for Education in the New England Region ranking.

The student loan default rate at UMaine is lower than is typical, just 5.7% of students default in three years. There are approximately 2,773 students at UMaine that take at least one class online. About 2,475 of the students at UMaine are attending part time. UMaine does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
