This year's Best Engineering Technologies Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the Southeast Region ranking looked at 19 colleges that offer a bachelor's in engineering tech. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent engineering technologies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to non-traditional students.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as affordability, and overall quality of the engineering technologies program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

ECPI University tops the 2021 list of our schools in the Southeast Region that are best for non-traditional engineering technologies students. Located in the large city of Virginia Beach, ECPI University is a private for-profit school with a large student population.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 3.4%. 3,327 of ECPI University students are exclusively distance learners. There are roughly 117 part time students in attendance at ECPI University.
Western Carolina University earned the #2 spot in our 2021 rankings. WCU is a large public school located in the distant town of Cullowhee. As a testament to the quality of education offered at WCU, the school also landed the #3 rank in our Best Colleges for Engineering Technologies in the Southeast Region ranking.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 2.3%. Approximately 3,568 students take at least one class online at WCU. About 2,712 of the students at WCU are attending part time.
Tennessee Technological University comes in at #3 in this year's ranking. Tennessee Tech University is a medium-sized public school located in the town of Cookeville. Tennessee Tech University did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #4 on our Best Colleges for Engineering Technologies in the Southeast Region list.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.2%. Approximately 6,609 students take at least one class online at Tennessee Tech University. About 1,966 of the students at Tennessee Tech University are attending part time.

Our rankings recognize University of North Carolina at Charlotte as the #4 school in this year's rankings. UNC Charlotte is a very large public school located in the city of Charlotte. UNC Charlotte also made our Best Colleges for Engineering Technologies in the Southeast Region list, coming in at #1.
The student loan default rate at UNC Charlotte is lower than is typical, just 1.7% of students default in three years. There are approximately 16,634 students at UNC Charlotte that take at least one class online. About 7,045 of the students at UNC Charlotte are attending part time.

East Carolina University landed the #5 spot in our 2021 best engineering technologies schools for non-traditional students. Located in the small city of Greenville, ECU is a public college with a very large student population. ECU also made our Best Colleges for Engineering Technologies in the Southeast Region list, coming in at #2.
The student loan default rate at ECU is lower than is typical, just 1.7% of students default in three years. Approximately 12,522 students take at least one class online at ECU. 7,199 students are part time.
Northern Kentucky University earned the #6 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the suburb of Highland Heights, NKU is a public college with a fairly large student population. As a testament to the quality of education offered at NKU, the school also landed the #6 rank in our Best Colleges for Engineering Technologies in the Southeast Region ranking.
About 2.2% of NKU students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. 6,629 students at NKU are exclusively online. About 7,069 of the students at NKU are attending part time.

Morehead State University landed the #7 spot in our 2021 best engineering technologies schools for non-traditional students. Located in the town of Morehead, Morehead State University is a public college with a moderately-sized student population.

There are approximately 3,653 students at Morehead State University that take at least one class online. There are roughly 4,015 part time students in attendance at Morehead State University.

Southeastern Louisiana University earned the #10 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the city of Hammond, Southeastern is a public school with a fairly large student population.
