Engineering Technologies is the 20th most popular major in the country with 85,188 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, engineering technologies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,350 and had an average of $21,560 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 10,969 engineering technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $48,978 and $20,173 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 11 colleges that offer a degree in engineering technologies. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great engineering technologies programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Texas A&M College Station did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.According to our most recent data, Texas A&M College Station supports 70,418 students, and 5 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 4 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Master’s. Arizona State University - Tempe is a large school located in Tempe, Arizona that handed out 77 masters’s engineering tech degrees in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our southwest region master’s degree vets studying engineering tech list, ASU - Tempe has also earned the #3 rank in our “Best Engineering Technologies Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.Among the 74,795 students enrolled at ASU - Tempe, 7,566 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. The school came in at #4 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Master’s. University of Arizona is a large public school situated in Tucson, Arizona. It awarded 19 masters’s engineering tech degrees in 2020-2021.

University of Arizona not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #4 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Our most recent data shows that 2,131 of the 45,601 students enrolled at University of Arizona were GI Bill® students, of which 1,478 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The school came in at #5 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Engineering Tech for a Master’s. Dallas, Texas is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s engineering tech degrees to 49 students in 2020-2021.

SMU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Among the 12,373 students enrolled at Southern Methodist University, 327 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 215 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $15,612. On top of their other funding sources, 103 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Southern Methodist University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

It placed #7 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Of the 40,953 students enrolled at UNT, 2,038 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
