In 2020-2021, 12,529 people earned their degree in writing studies, making the major the 81st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, writing studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,208 and had an average of $24,626 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 1,681 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $26,622 and $25,225 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,167 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,343 and $26,790 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Writing for a Bachelor’s” ranking looked at 35 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in writing studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent writing studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
