In 2020-2021, 4,858 people earned their degree in food, nutrition and related services, making the major the 135th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, food, nutrition and related services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $34,748 and had an average of $24,931 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 510 food, nutrition and related services graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,912 and $26,633 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Nutrition Schools in the New England Region” ranking looked at 4 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in food, nutrition and related services. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great food, nutrition and related services programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the food, nutrition and related services program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Framingham State University. The school came in at #1 for the Best Value Nutrition Schools in the New England Region. Framingham, Massachusetts is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s nutrition degrees to 48 students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Framingham State, the school also landed the #1 spot in our “Best Food, Nutrition & Related Services Schools in the New England Region” ranking. It costs about $19,535 for new england region nutrition students per year to attend Framingham State.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 3.8%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 86 diplomas to qualified ’s nutrition students in 2020-2021.
UBridgeport did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Food, Nutrition & Related Services Schools in the New England Region” list. It costs about $25,084 for new england region nutrition students per year to attend University of Bridgeport.

Out of the 4 schools in the Best Value Nutrition Schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Johnson & Wales University - Online landed the #3 spot on the list. Johnson & Wales University - Online is located in Providence, Rhode Island and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 79 ’s nutrition degrees to qualified students.
