It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Well Attended Nursing Major in Ohio” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 322,592 nursing students received their degree, making the major the 3rd most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $70,916 and had an average of $25,426 in loans still to pay off.
Across Ohio, there were 14,375 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $63,417 and $29,300 respectively.
This year’s “Most Well Attended Nursing Major in Ohio” ranking analyzed 98 colleges that offered a degree in nursing. To top this list, a school must have a successful nursing program that graduates more students in the field than other colleges that offer the same major.

Out of the 98 schools in the Most Well Attended Nursing Major in Ohio that were part of this year’s ranking, Ohio University - Athens Campus landed the #1 spot on the list. Ohio University - Athens Campus is a large public school situated in Athens, Ohio. It awarded 2,209 ’s nursing degrees in 2020-2021.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Cincinnati - Main Campus. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Well Attended Nursing Major in Ohio list. UC is a public institution located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The school has a large population, and it awarded 1,222 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
With a freshman retention rate of 88%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.7% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Ohio State University - Main Campus. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Well Attended Nursing Major in Ohio list.
