In 2020-2021, 556,813 liberal arts general studies students received their degree, making the major the 1st most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, liberal arts general studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,337 and had an average of $17,430 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 43,359 liberal arts general studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $30,635 and $19,425 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Liberal Arts for a Master’s” ranking analyzed 14 colleges that offered a degree in liberal arts general studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent liberal arts general studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the liberal arts general studies program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Top 14 Best Liberal Arts General Studies Master’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in the Middle Atlantic Region
Out of the 14 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Liberal Arts for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Georgetown University landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Washington, District of Columbia, this large private not-for-profit school handed out 15 degrees to qualified masters’s liberal arts students in 2020-2021.
Georgetown also took the #4 spot in our “Best Liberal Arts General Studies Master’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking.Among the 19,371 students enrolled at Georgetown, 10 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
