In 2020-2021, 3,012 people earned their degree in homeland security, making the major the 258th most popular in the United States.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly for Homeland Security” ranking, we looked at 46 colleges that offer a degree in homeland security. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality homeland security programs as well as strong veteran support.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the homeland security program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 46 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly for Homeland Security that were part of this year’s ranking, Keiser University - Ft Lauderdale landed the #1 spot on the list. Keiser University - Ft Lauderdale is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It awarded 30 ’s homeland security degrees in 2020-2021.

The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly for Homeland Security. This medium-sized school is located in Daytona Beach, Florida, and it awarded 62 ’s homeland security degrees in 2020-2021.

American Public University System is located in Charles Town, West Virginia and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 507 ’s homeland security degrees to qualified students.
American Military University also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 18,040 of the 50,047 students enrolled at American Public University System were GI Bill® students, of which 15,422 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
