In 2019-2020, general agriculture graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $36,894 and had an average of $20,543 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 823 general agriculture graduates with average earnings and debt of $32,401 and $22,644 respectively.

This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general agriculture programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Out of the 15 schools in the Best Value Agriculture Schools in the Southeast Region For Those Making $0-$30k that were part of this year’s ranking, North Carolina State University landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, and it awarded 46 ’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.
NC State also made our “Best General Agriculture Schools in the Southeast Region” list, coming in at #1. It costs about $7,283 for southeast region agriculture students whose families make $0-$30k per year to attend North Carolina State University.
With a freshman retention rate of 94%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The low undergrad student loan default rate of 2.0% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value Agriculture Schools in the Southeast Region For Those Making $0-$30k. Located in Athens, Georgia, this large public school awarded 14 diplomas to qualified ’s agriculture students in 2020-2021.
