In 2020-2021, 59,565 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 12th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 3,776 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $62,474 and $22,880 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,308 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for CompSci for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 22 colleges that offer a degree in computer science. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality computer science programs as well as strong veteran support.
