When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. At College Factual, we’re committed to helping you make that decision by providing information such as that found in our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for IT for a Bachelor’s” ranking.
In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Plains States region, there were 2,584 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $43,563 and $34,120 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 892 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,046 and $29,021 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for IT for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 15 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality information technology programs as well as strong veteran support.

Bellevue University is a fairly large school located in Bellevue, Nebraska that handed out 254 bachelors’s IT degrees in 2020-2021.

Lindenwood University is located in Saint Charles, Missouri and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 18 bachelors’s IT degrees to qualified students.

University of Central Missouri came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for IT for a Bachelor’s ranking. Located in Warrensburg, Missouri, this fairly large public school handed out 24 degrees to qualified bachelors’s IT students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UCM, the school also landed the #11 spot in our “Best Information Technology Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Plains States Region” ranking.Among the 9,959 students enrolled at UCM, 9 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
