In 2020-2021, 29,810 people earned their degree in general education, making the major the 41st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $48,719 and had an average of $23,394 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 3,893 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $46,811 and $21,316 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 588 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,457 and $25,851 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Education for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 17 colleges that offered a degree in general education. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general education programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the general education program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Syracuse is a private not-for-profit institution located in Syracuse, New York. The school has a large population, and it awarded 14 bachelors’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Syracuse also made our “Best General Education Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” list, coming in at #4.Our most recent data shows that 385 of the 21,322 students enrolled at Syracuse University were GI Bill® students, of which 250 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
