In 2020-2021, 29,810 people earned their degree in general education, making the major the 41st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $48,719 and had an average of $23,394 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 4,037 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $45,577 and $24,252 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 603 general education graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Education for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 29 colleges that offer a degree in general education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general education programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

LaGrange College ranked #24 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Education for a Bachelor’s list. Located in Lagrange, Georgia, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 3 diplomas to qualified bachelors’s education students in 2020-2021.

LaGrange did well in our major quality rankings, too. Our most recent data shows that 86 of the 1,467 students enrolled at Belmont Abbey College were GI Bill® students, of which 55 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
