In 2020-2021, 28,844 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 39th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $74,380 and had an average of $24,114 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 1,669 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $81,909 and $25,820 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value EE Schools in the New England Region For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking analyzed 20 colleges that offered a degree in electrical engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great electrical engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the electrical engineering program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 20 schools in the Best Value EE Schools in the New England Region For Those Making $30-$48k that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. This fairly large school is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and it awarded 173 ’s EE degrees in 2020-2021.
