Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Agriculture for a Bachelor’s” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.

In 2020-2021, 3,370 people earned their degree in general agriculture, making the major the 157th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general agriculture graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $36,894 and had an average of $20,543 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 823 general agriculture graduates with average earnings and debt of $32,401 and $22,644 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 645 general agriculture graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Agriculture for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 14 colleges that offer a degree in general agriculture. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general agriculture programs as well as strong veteran support.

The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Agriculture for a Bachelor’s. Auburn University is a large public school situated in Auburn, Alabama. It awarded 30 bachelors’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.

Auburn also took the #2 spot in our “Best General Agriculture Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Of the 30,737 students enrolled at Auburn, 1,499 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 746 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,423. On top of their other funding sources, 68 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

NC State is a large school located in Raleigh, North Carolina that handed out 32 bachelors’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.
