It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Computer & Information Sciences for a Doctorate” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 254,454 computer and information sciences students received their degree, making the major the 6th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, computer and information sciences graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,893 and had an average of $27,324 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 14,707 computer and information sciences graduates with average earnings and debt of $63,325 and $23,988 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Computer & Information Sciences for a Doctorate” ranking, we looked at 13 colleges that offer a degree in computer and information sciences. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer and information sciences programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the computer and information sciences program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 13 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Computer & Information Sciences for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is a fairly large school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts that handed out 64 doctorate’s computer and information sciences degrees in 2020-2021.

University of Massachusetts Amherst came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Computer & Information Sciences for a Doctorate ranking. University of Massachusetts Amherst is located in Amherst, Massachusetts and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 16 doctorate’s computer and information sciences degrees to qualified students.
