Out of the majors we analyze each year, nursing was the most popular one in Ohio. In total, 6,809 people earned their bachelor's degree in the field from a school in Ohio. This means that colleges and universities in the state were responsible for awarding 4.2% of all the nursing bachelor's degrees in the country.
For this year's Best Nursing Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in Ohio ranking, we looked at 24 colleges that offer a bachelor's in nursing. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality nursing programs as well as strong support for students classified as non-traditional.

Ursuline College tops the 2021 list of our schools in Ohio that are best for non-traditional nursing students. Located in the suburb of Pepper Pike, Ursuline College is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly small student population.
The student loan default rate at Ursuline College is lower than is typical, just 2.9% of students default in three years. Approximately 348 students take at least one class online at Ursuline College. There are roughly 431 part time students in attendance at Ursuline College.

Our rankings recognize Ohio University - Athens Campus as the #2 school in this year's rankings. OHIO Athens is a fairly large public school located in the distant town of Athens. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, OHIO Athens has also earned the #2 rank in our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio ranking.
The student loan default rate at OHIO Athens is lower than is typical, just 1.2% of students default in three years. Approximately 11,926 students take at least one class online at OHIO Athens. 7,245 students are part time.

University of Cincinnati - Main Campus earned the #3 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the city of Cincinnati, UC is a public college with a fairly large student population. UC also took the #5 spot in our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio rankings.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.7%. There are approximately 17,465 students at UC that take at least one class online. About 10,255 of the students at UC are attending part time.

Ashland University landed the #5 spot in our 2021 best nursing schools for non-traditional students. Ashland is a small private not-for-profit school located in the fringe town of Ashland.
About 1.2% of Ashland students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. 1,358 of Ashland students are exclusively distance learners. 1,993 students are part time.

Ohio State University - Main Campus earned the #6 spot in our 2021 rankings. Ohio State is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Columbus. Ohio State not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #3 on our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio list.
