Out of the majors we analyze each year, nursing was the most popular one in Ohio. In total, 6,809 people earned their bachelor's degree in the field from a school in Ohio. This means that colleges and universities in the state were responsible for awarding 4.2% of all the nursing bachelor's degrees in the country.
For this year's Best Nursing Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in Ohio ranking, we looked at 24 colleges that offer a bachelor's in nursing. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality nursing programs as well as strong support for students classified as non-traditional.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the nursing program at the school, affordability, and presence of non-traditional students. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

The following schools top our list of the Best Nursing Colleges for Non-Traditional Students.
Ursuline College tops the 2021 list of our schools in Ohio that are best for non-traditional nursing students. Located in the suburb of Pepper Pike, Ursuline College is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly small student population.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 2.9%. Approximately 348 students take at least one class online at Ursuline College. 431 students are part time.
Our rankings recognize Ohio University - Athens Campus as the #2 school in this year's rankings. OHIO Athens is a fairly large public school located in the distant town of Athens. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, OHIO Athens has also earned the #2 rank in our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio ranking.
About 1.2% of OHIO Athens students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 11,926 students at OHIO Athens that take at least one class online. About 7,245 of the students at OHIO Athens are attending part time.

University of Cincinnati - Main Campus earned the #3 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the city of Cincinnati, UC is a public school with a fairly large student population. UC also took the #5 spot in our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio rankings.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.7%. There are approximately 17,465 students at UC that take at least one class online. There are roughly 10,255 part time students in attendance at UC.
Full Nursing at University of Cincinnati - Main Campus Report
Our rankings recognize Mount St. Joseph University as the #4 school in this year's rankings. Mount St. Joe is a small private not-for-profit school located in the suburb of Cincinnati.
The student loan default rate at Mount St. Joe is lower than is typical, just 1.4% of students default in three years. There are approximately 443 students at Mount St. Joe that take at least one class online. 803 of Mount St. Joe students are attending part time.
Ashland University landed the #5 spot in our 2021 best nursing schools for non-traditional students. Ashland is a small private not-for-profit school located in the fringe town of Ashland.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.2%. 1,358 students at Ashland are exclusively online. About 1,993 of the students at Ashland are attending part time.
Ohio State University - Main Campus earned the #6 spot in our 2021 rankings. Ohio State is a fairly large public school located in the city of Columbus. Ohio State not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #3 on our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio list.
About 1.2% of Ohio State students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. Approximately 42,293 students take at least one class online at Ohio State. There are roughly 8,459 part time students in attendance at Ohio State.
The #7 spot in this year's ranking belongs to Walsh University. Walsh is a small private not-for-profit school located in the large suburb of North Canton.
About 1.1% of Walsh students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 1,211 students at Walsh that take at least one class online. There are roughly 749 part time students in attendance at Walsh.
Malone University earned the #8 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the small city of Canton, Malone is a private not-for-profit college with a small student population.

Kent State University at Kent comes in at #9 in this year's ranking. Located in the suburb of Kent, Kent State is a public school with a very large student population.

Xavier University comes in at #10 in this year's ranking. Located in the large city of Cincinnati, Xavier is a private not-for-profit school with a moderately-sized student population. Xavier did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #6 on our Best Colleges for Nursing in Ohio list.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.0%. There are approximately 2,392 students at Xavier that take at least one class online. 1,248 students are part time.
