In 2020-2021, 67,146 people earned their degree in health and physical education, making the major the 11th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, health and physical education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $31,386 and had an average of $24,576 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 17,631 health and physical education graduates with average earnings and debt of $30,134 and $25,357 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 14,182 health and physical education graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Phys Ed for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 136 colleges that offer a degree in health and physical education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great health and physical education programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
