Engineering is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 7th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 198,468 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $68,653 and had an average of $23,855 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 33,608 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,391 and $24,393 respectively.

University of Delaware did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Engineering for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #23. Located in Newark, Delaware, this large public school handed out 87 diplomas to qualified masters’s engineering students in 2020-2021.
UD also took the #20 spot in our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 364 of the 23,613 students enrolled at University of Delaware were GI Bill® students, of which 188 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,229. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 90%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.
