History is the 30th most popular major in the country with 32,731 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, history graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $30,467 and had an average of $23,587 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 7,427 history graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,226 and $23,965 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 6,168 history graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.

The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great history programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
